The University is located in San Luis Obispo, a city of 47,000, 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean and midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles on California's scenic Central Coast. The role of the University Development Division is to foster strong relationships with internal and external partners to enhance support for Cal Poly. University Development establishes and implements an overall advancement program, including coordinating fundraising, communications, government and community relations, marketing and alumni programs.
The Development Support Services Department is responsible for overseeing and supporting the information management needs of Advancement efforts at Cal Poly. These functions include the collection, verification and maintenance of constituent information and processing and reporting of all gift activity.
Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President of Development Administration & Finance, the Matching Gifts Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Cal Poly Matching Gifts Program, as well as managing the recording of gifts-in-kind. Incumbent advises and coordinates matching strategy with Advancement officers and other on-campus and off-campus constituents.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff Only):
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or its equivalent. Type 45 wpm. Four years of general office support or technical experience. (Training at a vocational school or full-time college education may be substituted for two years of the required experience on the basis of one year of college education for 6 months of experience)
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, DEGREES, CREDENTIALS: Possession of a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Demonstrated customer service experience requiring a very high level of diplomacy and professionalism.
Ability to use tact and diplomacy to effectively handle a broad range of high level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities, and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems.
Ability to handle effectively a broader range of interpersonal contacts, including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.
Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds.
Excellent communication skills; ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing.
Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Ability to interpret, communicate and apply policies and procedures.
Ability to perform standard arithmetic functions of a transactional nature, including tracking and comparing data.
Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines.
Excellent computer skills and proficiency with a variety of computer applications including word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, on-line systems, Internet as well as online calendaring and email.
Working knowledge of or ability to quickly learn University infrastructure, policies and procedures.
Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects and provide lead work direction and/or training and assistance to others in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to identify and analyze operational and procedural problems using reasoning and judgment and develop, recommend and evaluate practical, thorough and creative solutions.
Ability to interpret and apply independently a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist using ingenuity to put information together in new ways.
Ability to effectively interpret, analyze, organize and present materials and information. Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports.
Ability to utilize existing resources to locate individuals and acquire current biographic/demographic information required.
Demonstrated skills in an institutional/educational environment utilizing a customer-oriented and service-centered attitude.
Knowledge of biographical data research techniques and resources preferred.

Must be willing to travel and attend training programs off-site for occasional professional development.
Must be able to work overtime, occasional holidays, and adjust working hours to meet special jobs. May be called back periodically to perform work as needed on an emergency basis.
This position classification has been defined as non-exempt and is subject to overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
